Why is he so worried about me dying?

I have a friend that always talks about me dying. We’re both in our early 20’s. I don’t even have any health problems, but I am a bad driver. I also can’t see that well and I know that worries him a lot when I drive. I have trouble sleeping at night and sometimes take Tylenol pm and he really hates that. He tells me how people take sleeping medication and never wake up. He constantly tells me he hates that I’m taking it and that he wishes I would stop. He tells me repeatedly how that is going to kill me. I know he’s not against doctors or anything like that because whenever I’m sick, he encourages me to go to the doctor. He always tells me how people commit suicide with Tylenol because it works so fast and that I should be careful because no one might find me in time. I went on a trip and he was mad that I walked around a big city by myself. He said “If I were a woman, I would never do anything like that”. I recently had car trouble and had to wait for someone to pick me up. He couldn’t do it and I had to wait in my car for an hour. He told me that if I sat there with it running to lower the window some so I wouldn’t die of carbon monoxide poisoning. I was outside so I don’t know how it would have killed me. He also warned me about strangers and wanted me to let him know as soon as I was okay. We were talking about something a while ago and I jokingly said something about me dying and I think he said “That’s so sad that it’s making me sick”, but when I asked him what he said he wouldn’t repeat it. His grandma, who was very old, recently ped away and he didn’t seem as devastated as I thought he would be considering how he acts with me. He even tells me that because of my car, if I were to hit a deer it would kill me. I don’t know how he acts with others because we don’t know the same people. Why does he act this way? Do you think he says this stuff to everyone? We’re just friends and we’ve only known each other for a year, why would he be so afraid that I’m going to die. Maybe he’s just really macabre.
