What illnesses can cause sudden blindness in humans?

Hi, I'm wondering what illnesses might cause sudden blindness (ie, the person can see relatively well or perfectly one minute and next thing they know they cannot see at all). These can also be "hidden" (no symptoms prior to the blindness) causes...Does anybody know? To make a note, this would affect a teenager....Thanks in advance for your help, guys!
