Helping my friend?

Hello. I have a friend that I'm close with who is very addicted to Hydrocodone. He has been taking it daily for 2+ years (15-20 per day). From a supporting standpoint does anyone have any recommendations of do's and dont's to be supportive? He is seeking medical attention tomorrow but does not want to go in-patient anywhere. I want him to know I am here, and that I care, but I don't want to be discouraging in any way.
